FAQs

  • What will happen during my appointment?
We will spend time discussing your current symptoms, and what treatment/s you have already tried. It will involve an assessment of the joints/structures of the feet/ankles and I will assess your walking/running and movement to assess whether custom orthotics are appropriate to you. I will also examine your footwear to ensure it is appropriate for using orthotics and I can give advice on types/styles/brands to consider.
  • What should I bring to my appointment?
Please bring shorts, or loose fitting trousers, to your appointment. Please also bring a selection of your footwear including sports shoes, and bring any existing orthotics/insoles that you currently use, or have tried in the past.
  • Can I bring a friend/relative with me?
Yes, of course. Patients under 16yrs must bring a parent/guardian.
  • Can you update my GP?
Yes, referral letters to your GP or other consultants are included in my assessment fee. Sometimes we need to refer patients back to orthopaedics for further assessment. You will receive a copy of any referral letters for your records.
  • What are your fees?
My consultation fee is £145 for approx 1 hour.
  • How much do orthotics cost?
I generally only supply custom made orthotics as most patients who attend my clinic have already tried off-the-shelf or prefabricated orthotics, which have not been successful. Custom made orthotics can vary in price from £350-450 depending upon which type is suitable. I offer patients a full refund if these are not successful and the terms and conditions of this will be discussed with you.
  • Is it easy to find your clinic?
I am based at Williamson's Garden Centre which is on the main A89 road near Uphall. Exit at Junction 3 (Livingston) on the M8, and the clinic is approximately 5 mins drive. You can also use Uphall Station train station, with a walk of approximately 15 mins. Please see our contact page for more information.
  • Is there parking?
Plenty parking is available within the car parking areas at Williamson's Garden Centre, or if required, you can park directly outside the clinic.
